Deliverable: High fidelity interactive prototype
My Role: I was in charge of competitive analysis, conducting interviews, sketching, prototyping, and usability testing.
THE TASK: Our challenge was to redesign the Extreme Pizza mobile app.
THE PROBLEM: After some usability testing on the current Extreme Pizza app, we discovered that the "Delivery" flow could be greatly improved, along with the menu and checkout.
THE SOLUTION: We redesigned the delivery, menu, and checkout flow which can be viewed in a high fidelity interactive prototype.
At the moment, you can't order food without signing in or creating a profile. When you select delivery, a list of nearby locations does not automatically pop up. The address of the location you want to order from must be inputted. Finding items on the menu can also be a bit challenging due to the format.
From our competitive analysis, we discovered that the user could order food through the app without having to Sign up.
From our interviews, we discovered that the majority of people who order food online or using an app are busy and want a quick and convenient way to order food.
We developed a user flow for a person who chooses to have a pizza delivered to their home.
Here are some initial sketches of possible interfaces before digitization.
Low fidelity iterations
High fidelity iterations
By the time the first iteration of wireframes was complete, we began usability testing on the interactive prototype. After the first run of tests, we realized that the hamburger menu was completely overlooked. So we decided to do away with this menu and add "Account" settings to the bottom navigation. We then tested our 2nd iteration and then began work on the high fidelity prototype.
After much research and several prototype iterations, we came up with a solid solution that satisfies the needs of both the user and the business. The customer can now efficiently order a pizza through the app without the need to sign in. From the business perspective, Extreme Pizza will be able to receive more orders through their mobile app.
